Challenges

AUT’s Mathematics department required an open-source storage solution for their students to access the database, VM machines for their day-to-day requirements and storage for their files. After DiGiCOR suggested our NexentaStor Solution, AUT added that they wish to not pay for licences.

How We Helped

Through their consultation with us, we are able to provide a solution according to their needs. AUT agreed to our suggestion regarding the choice of hardware: DiGiCOR D3163-DE8-DR and took our solution: FreeNAS, which included SuperMicro servers, JBODs, UPS and a 10GbE Ethernet Network. We also conducted the installation of FreeNAS software to the hardware.

Results

The solution is highly scalable and extremely cost effective, which gave Auckland University of Technology, Mathematics department storage flexibility with a system that scales as student storage demands grow.
